Enoploteuthis obliquaKotaro Tsuchiya and Richard E. Young
Enoploteuthis obliqua, a relatively small-sized species for the genus, attains 70mm DML. It is endemic to the tropical East Pacific. The oblique striped photophore arrangement on the ventral mantle is characteristic.
- Tentacle short, narrow.
- Carpal cluster elongate.
- Two rows of subequal-sized hooks on manus.
- Two rows of suckers on dactylus.
- Hectocotylus with large truncate membranous flap on ventral edge.
- Modified portion with armature.
- Integumental Photophores
- Ventral mantle with six weakly radiated stripes of integumental organs.
- Ventral head with relatively scattered integumental organs.
- Ventral side of arm III with a row of organs along almost entire arm.
Geographical distributionThis species is endemic to the tropical East Pacific (Okutani, 1974; Burgess, 1982; Alexeyev, 1994).
