Types

Holotype and allotype, National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution, Washington D.C. 81279 (male I, female); "morphotype," National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution, Washington D.C. 81280 (male II); paratypes, Museum of Comparative Zoology, Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts, National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution, Washington D.C., Department of Zoology, University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida (now in National Museum of Natural History), Bureau of Marine Research, St. Petersburg, Florida.

Type Locality

Orange Springs in the northeastern part of Marion County, Florida (Sec. 2, T. 12S, R. 23E); found in burrows near the springs.

Range

Along the St. Johns River and its tributaries from Putnam County south to Seminole County, Florida.

Habitat

Burrows in flatwoods, seepage areas, and in vicinities of springs (primary burrower).

Conservation Status

Currently stable.
