Ephialtias velutinum described in Mitradaemon ButlerJames S. Miller and Andrew V. Z. Brower
IntroductionLess rare than many Ephialtias, E. velutinum ranges throughout upper Amazonia (Manaus westward to Peru and Ecuador).
CharacteristicsMay be distinguished from E. dorsispilota by the absence of yellow spots on the dorsum of the abdomen, and from E. pseudena by the unicolorous brown abdominal venter. E. velutimum is also larger than the other two species.
