Introduction

The diverse Afrotropical genus Iolaus has been divided into numerous subgenera. Larsen (2005) considers Etesiolaus and Stugeta to be worthy of generic rank.

Comments This forest species has an elaborate "false head" at the anal angle of the wings (right), complete with black "eyes" and white "antennae". At rest the butterfly gently rubs its hind wings together, causing the false antennae to twitch.
