Introduction

A rare lowland and premontane forest species ranging from Costa Rica to western Ecuador. Hall (2005) suggests that the species participates in a mimicry ring with a variety of other riodinid species (Hades noctula, Necryia ingaretha, Necyria duellona, Esthemopsis clonia, Thisbe ucubia and Setabis alcmaeon, as well as the arctiine moth Hypocrita aletta.
