The single US species placed in this genus is misplaced; it is apparently more closely related to Hentzia or Anicius.

The true Beata are large stout hairy species of the neotropics.

Identification

Small, somewhat beetle-like. Resembles Sassacus but genitalia distinctive, like those of Hentzia.
