Its goal is to create a national computational infrastructure for the international systematics community.
Deep Fin logo DeepFin is a research coordination network (RCN) of systematic ichthyologists and biologists with expertise in the analysis of fish biodiversity, seeking to integrate knowledge of morphology, paleontology, molecular biology, and bioinformatics. The ultimate goal of the RCN is to establish the phylogenetic tree of all fishes, to decipher their evolutionary relationships. This research group coordinates the ToL fish branches.
Deep Hypha logo Deep Hypha is an NSF-funded Research Coordination Network (RCN) that is focused on developing robust phylogenetic hypotheses for the deep branches within Kingdom Fungi and enhanced research and educational tools in fungal systematics. This research group participates in the coordination of the ToL fungi branch.
Early Bird logo Early Bird: A Collaborative Project to Resolve the Deep Nodes of Avian Phylogeny participates in the development of the ToL Neornithes branch.
Early Bird logo The Encyclopedia of Life is a collaborative scientific effort led by the Field Museum of Natural History, Harvard University, Marine Biological Laboratory, Missouri Botanical Garden, Smithsonian Institution, and Biodiversity Heritage Library, a consortium including the core institutions and also the American Museum of Natural History (New York), Natural History Museum (London), New York Botanical Garden, and Royal Botanic Gardens (Kew). Ultimately, the Encyclopedia of Life will provide an online database for all 1.8 million species now known to live on Earth. The ToL will support this effort by providing expertise and content, most importantly the phylogenetic structure, and information about clades above the species level.
GEM logo The Gateway to Educational Materials is a portal to lesson plans, curriculum units and other education resources on the Internet. The ToL is a GEM consortium member.
