Revising Published Tree of Life Pages

Authors who want to edit or append their Tree of Life pages after publication have two options:

  • Send detailed instructions on how to change the content of a page to treegrow@ag.arizona.edu. We will then update the page for you asap and send you a message once it's done.
When sending instructions, please include the following information:
    • the url of the page(s) to be revised
    • identify the page section(s) to be revised
    • note whether the revision is an addition or a replacement and clearly indicate which text or images should be deleted or moved

  • Make changes to the pages yourself using ToL-MacClade. You should then send the revised NEXUS files along with any new image files to treegrow@ag.arizona.edu, and we will put the new version up on the ToL server.
    • If you choose this option, you should first request copies of the current NEXUS files for your pages from treegrow@ag.arizona.edu. As the Tree is gradually transformed to its new database format, we are continuously adding new features to the ToL database, and some of these require changes to be made to the NEXUS files of Tree of Life pages. For example, we may make adjustment in format (e.g., marking the status of pages, adding codes for special menus, etc.), and we may fix broken links or add new links to the Information on the Internet section. Not all of these revisions actually result in any visible changes to the pages, but they may prepare the files for the future implementation of certain features. In order for these improvements to be maintained in future versions of pages, authors should only edit the master files from our site. Once an author has requested control of these files for the purpose of a revision, we will put a hold on any revisions on our end until control over the master files is returned to us.
