This species is distributed in Andean cloud forest from western Venezuela through the eastern and central cordilleras of Colombia to northern Ecuador. Pyrcz et al. (2011) note that it generally occurs at lower elevations than the closely-related D. inconspicua, although the two are occasionally sympatric.Characteristics
