Josia integra elevated from synonymy with J. megaera by Miller (2009)
James S. Miller and Andrew V. Z. BrowerIntroduction
This rare species represents the populations of the megaera group that range from southern Mexico to Belize, and are apparently disjunct from the mainly South American J. megaera proper.Characteristics
J. integra shares with J. megaera the transverse postdiscal forewing band not seen in other Josia species (but apparently convergently derived in, e. g., Lyces minuta), and for this reason was long considered synonymous. However, Miller (2009) documents major differences in the genitalia, particularly in the cornuti of the male vesica (numerous and variable in J. integra).Other Names for Josia integra elevated from synonymy with J. megaera by Miller (2009)
- Josia decorata
