Introduction

The "Central American" Philaethria, ranging from southerm Mexico to Panama, and the only species present north of Panama.  Larvae reported to feed on Passiflora vitifolia, P. edulis, P. ambigua, P. oerstedii and P. platyloba (Constantino & Salazar, 2010).

Characteristics

The only Philaethria occurring from Costa Rica northward.  Distinguished from sympatric P. dido in Panama by the brown inner postdiscal band and the white medial postdiscal band on the ventral hindwing (black and red, respectively in P. dido).
