Scea cleonica
James S. Miller and Andrew V. Z. BrowerIntroduction
This species occurs high on the eastern slopes of the Andes in southern Ecuador. It is very similar to, and historically conflated with, the western Ecuadorian S. curvilimes. Miller (2009) notes another similar but almost certainly distinct, undescribed species from Santa Catarina in southeastern Brazil.Characteristics
Scea cleonica is a medium-sized representative of the genus, most similar to western Ecuadorian S. curvilimes. This species lacks the dusting of brownish scales encountered in the orange forewing patched of S. curvilimes.References
