Characteristics
The Aneuretinae share the following characters with the Formicinae and Dolichoderinae (Bolton 2003):- Dorsal cuticular flap of the metapleural gland anteriorly reduced and posteromedially extended
- Petiole with complete tergosternal fusion
- Postpygidial glands absent
- Petiole with a long anterior peduncle
- Helcial attachment high on anterior face of abdominal segment III
- Larvae with abundant spinules
