A beautiful Scea species from the Andes of eastern Ecuador. Larvae are commonly encountered on Passiflora manicata.Characteristics
Scea superba is the only member of the genus to exhibit strong blue-black iridescence on its wings and abdomen. It is also distinct in the limitation of black scaling to the forewing radial and cubital veins. The morphology of the species is discussed in Miller (1996).References
