Discussion of Phylogenetic Relationships
This subtribe is an amalgamation of former Coenonymphina (Coenonympha, Lyela, Triphysis) with Oressinoma plus the former Hypocystina, the genera of which are paraphyletic with respect to the coenonymphine genera. The biogeographical interpretation of this group becomes complicated by these changes: former hypocystine genera are mainly from Australia/New Guinea/New Zealand/New Caledonia, while Oressinoma is neotropical, and Coenonympha is Holarctic.
