Engaeus urostrictus Riek 1969

Keith A. Crandall
Containing group: Engaeus

Holotype, Museum of Victoria, Melbourne J902 (female); paratypes, Museum of Victoria, Melbourne 911 and J11619 (4 female, male).

Type Locality

Dandenong Creek, at Alpine Road, East of Melbourne, Victoria.

This species has been found in the Dandenong Ranges, east of Melbourne. Its occurence near Mt. Donna Buang is odd and the eastward extension of its range is in need of clarification. It is not likely to be found west of Mt. Dandenong.

The habitat utilisations and seperations for the three species E. urostrictus, E. tuberculatus, and Euastacus woiwuru Morgan are described in detail in Horwitz et al. (1985a) and summarised in Horwitz & Richardon (1986).

This page is a Tree of Life Leaf Page.

Each ToL leaf page provides a synopsis of the characteristics of a group of organisms representing a leaf at the tip of the Tree of Life. The major distinction between a leaf and a branch of the Tree of Life is that a leaf cannot generally be further subdivided into subgroups representing distinct genetic lineages.

For a more detailed explanation of the different ToL page types, have a look at the Structure of the Tree of Life page.
